Krepkuri Nduga, PenKoopsTNIThe Task Forces of the Para Raider Infantry Battalion 503/Mayangkara Kostrad, one of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command (KOOPS TNI) in Papua, is currently carrying out the mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in Nduga Regency area, Papua Pegunungan Province. On Friday, 5 July 2024, the 503 Task Forces held a Social Communication (Komsos) activity in playing volleyball with children from the Krepkuri District, especially those from the Mumugu and Krepkuri Villages.

According to the Commander of the 503 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Gurbasa Samosir, the Komsos which continues to be actively organized by the Task Forces, is one of the realizations of the TNI’s commitment to implementing inclusive Social Communication with all stakeholders in the Papua region. This aligns with implementing the Presidential Instruction to the TNI Commander as stated in the Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2020 concerning the Acceleration of Welfare Development in Papua, including building an inclusive Social Communication with Papuan Figures and Strategic Groups in realizing appropriate development approaches and policies.

The implementation of creative Komsos, has occurred through playing volleyball with children from the Krepkuri District. The location of the Komsos, of which is near the Batu Border Post, is often carried out by the TNI Soldiers with the residents to get information on developments in the area which is the responsibility of security for the 503 Task Forces. The children cheered very much through their wide laughter when the volleyball game was held. While playing, the Soldiers also often asked about developments in the Krepkuri District. Even one of the children named Okto Ndaset enthusiastically said, “Om Tentara (Army Soldier), it would be nice if we could continue playing volleyball here. Krepkuri is safe, TNI is MANTAP (very good).”

Upon receiving the program report, the KOOPS TNI Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, said, “The creativity of the 503 Task Forces in holding the Social Communication with the children of the Krepkuri District is the TNI’s effort to implement inclusive Social Communication to support acceleration of development in the Papua region.”
